The primary purpose of our Veterinary Student Externship is to provide a hands-on learning experience for veterinary students who are enrolled in the DVM program and to develop professional relationships with our future veterinarians that may lead to future opportunities. The externship program is flexible and can be scheduled in 1 to 4 week blocks, depending on your availability. Externs’ time will be split between the two facilities to get a well-rounded small animal and emergency medicine experience. You’ll work with a friendly, competitive, and knowledgeable team at both hospitals and have the opportunity to practice outstanding veterinary medicine. Our doctors are a strong, united group who enjoy collaborating on cases to provide excellent care. We are committed to providing outstanding client relations and support our team members through continuing education and exposure to new techniques and information.
Our ideal candidate will have a strong interest in dentistry, preventative care, general surgery, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, emergency medicine, and day-to-day practice skills. We also value strong communication skills, as we believe well informed clients lead to great patient care. We feel that the students who possess an open mind and a willingness to learn will benefit the most from our externship.
We offer housing close to the beach! The area boasts many outdoor activities, wineries, and community programs to keep you busy - (it’s pretty awesome here!)
